The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) used to be among the most difficult passages for me. Really the Gospels were difficult. They are so rich in Christ’s character, that I felt overwhelmed. They are simply stated, yet profound.
However, when I began to enjoy and appreciate their simplicity, their profoundness came through.
The format of the post does not allow exposition of the entire passage, but I think it is a good summary to say that the person is blessed of God if they recognize that they are not sufficient within themselves, who seek God to complete them and live with an eternal perspective.
This week, read the Beatitudes three times daily and let their simplicity begin to overwhelm you.
